Does My House Qualify?
The house has to be used entirely for residential purposes, and be three storeys or less and have a foundation footprint of less than 600 square meters. (6400 Square feet). The house must be at least 6 months old, and the building envelope must be complete (so that a blower door test can be done).
The house must have at least one rectangular entrance door that can be fitted with a blower door, or we will be unable to do the blower door test. Our Door can fit an opening from 29.5 " wide to 41.5 inches wide, and from 51.5 inches high to 95 inches high.
Even though MURBs are eligible, I currently am not certified to do MURBs.
If there is a NRCan sticker on the electrical panel, contact us and tell what is on the sticker. If there has already been an audit by a previous owner, you may be in a special situation.
What type of houses can be done?
- A single Detached home
- A semi-detached home
- Row housing, such as a town house
- Mobile Home on a permanent foundation
To get an insulation upgrade recommendation for attic insulation, we must be able to see inside the attic to confirm the level and type of insulation. Typically we stand on a step ladder and view the attic from the access hatch. We do not crawl around in your attic.
If you have a wood burning fireplace
- The fire must be out for 24 hours before my visit
- The ashes must be cleaned out from the fireplace or stove
- This is to prevent the depressurization test from sucking ashes into your house and making a mess!
- If the blower door test can't be done safely, then the audit can't be completed that day.
- If you forget, there will be a charge and a rescheduled visit will be required at a later date.
